Action Plan
An Action Plan is a plan for making a teaching change that will enhance your students understanding of mathematics.

Describe your teaching situation
Name Steve Colvin
School Oroville High School
Teaching assignment 9th and 10 Science and Algebra 1
Describe your student population (approximate number, ethnicity, language, etc) 200 in High School Mostly white. 10-125 % Hispanic

Describe your teaching change
What teaching change (instruction, assessment, materials) you like to improve? I would like to have newer textbooks ( 20+years old). I have a great lab but we need to install computers and probeware to make activities in math and science real. The ability to actively learn mathematics and use 21st century technology to relate to students and gain their buyin in the education process.

Set Teaching Goals
Identify at least two teaching goals (measurable accomplishment that if met would enable your students to learn mathematics more effectively).
1. To use technology in the journaling process. We are required to use DLC. Most of the blogging and U tube sites are blocked. SO, Students will set up an account on the DLC and answer 3 questions once a week
2. Provide interactive practice ( using some of the programs demonstrated) to review concepts students have learned in class.
Describe Teaching Actions
Describe at least two things you are going to do as a teacher to accomplish your teaching goals.
As a teacher use my computer and digital camera demonstate with Fathom the basic algebra concepts, it is easily understood and can be duplicated for students that may be absent.
Use Wiki and Fathom to post lesson plans and links that will help explain the math concepts.
Assess Teaching Goals
Identify how you are going to assess each of your teaching goals (simple method of collecting information to see if your teach goals was met).
Check to see if students are answering the questions and discuss the questions and answers in class as well as posting to the student on line.
During the chapter periodic interactive practice will be monitored by the teacher and assessment with and without the interactive practice will be compared. Student survey information could help indicate if the interactive practice was beneficial.
Timeline
Outline a general timeline that identifies when you are going to use your actions, collect your assessment data
Journals will begin as soon as the computer lab and passwords are established.
Interactive practice will begin by the 2nd week of school and continue throughout the year.
Teacher use of technology is improving now and will continue and increase throughout the year.

Reflection
Write a reflection on the results of your action plan.
What was difficult?
What worked well?
How did your students react to the changes you made? What was the impact on student learning?
